I like to work closely with each client to insure a pleasant experience. I will carefully go over your specific needs first before taking a single stitch. I am an honest craftsman and if a wrong choice is being considered, I will let you know before disaster strikes. However, you are always in control of the process and I strive to offer several choices and solutions.
At each stage of the process, I will send pics for your approval. You will select the fabric, then see that fabric pinned to the bra first, before I sew it. Next you will choose your trims, appliqué, beads and or buttons. Again, pics are sent to you before it's sewn down. I will be more than happy to incorporate any personal items you would like to include. Final pics are sent for any finishing touches.
About the base:
Size and fit are not necessarily the same. Given that size is based on industry standards, and few bodies conform to that standard, the style and cut of any garment will determine how well your garment fits. I highly recommend that you go and try on a few bras first. When you find a bra that fits well, its best you buy it then and send it to me. That is the only way to insure a proper fit. I will be more than happy to provide the bra. But even if it is the correct size, it may or may not fit properly.
What you need to start the conversation:
Before we begin, it is very helpful if you have a fairly clear idea about certain design factors. Color scheme, trim options, style ideas, mood and theme make an excellent beginning. It is also helpful to know when you will need your bra. Letting me know what event you plan to wear it can also help me to design a venue appropriate costume piece. I have had clients send me the music they plan to dance with, to help me in the design process.
Please understand that all this is handwork. If your bra is for a specific event keep in mind that you can expect the process to take 4-6 weeks from start to finish. There are some times of the year in which I am very busy filling orders. Be assured that I will not take your order if I honestly don’t feel as if I can get this to you in a timely manner.
A $100 non-refundable deposit is required to begin the process.
I charge $35 per hour for this work, plus the cost of materials. Some fabric and trims are very expensive, some moderately priced, but I do not work with cheap material. I only choose the best possible material for the best possible value.
It is impossible for me to give a set price for this work. Each bra is different and there are many variants in time and material. I can give you an estimate to start with, but I cannot guarantee a specific price. However, at each stage of the process, you will be given a price update. When finished, an invoice with all the costs, including labor, will be included with your bra.
When you are ready to begin the process email me. Please put the word custom order on the subject heading.
